Retention

When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. You will be requested to wear your retainers full-time, all day and all night, for at least 6 months following removal of your braces. It generally takes 6 months for the teeth, the bone and the gum tissue to stabilize. After 6 months of full-time wear you will be instructed to wear your retainers nightly. After 2 years of nightly retainer wear it is recommended that you reduce the nightly wear, but never discontinue the wear of your retainers. Teeth like to shift and if retainers are worn life-long you will maintain your beautiful smile. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before eating, drinking hot liquids, brushing your teeth, or playing sports, Remember to brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.
